Merry Christmas!

Here's a little picture I made for a Christmas card. It makes me want a teddy bear...

Haunted Manor Set

I've finally finished the long process of my volunteer work with CEP Youth Leadership's Haunted Manor. I worked on all of their illustration and design work (which I showed some of earlier), but I also helped design, create, run, and act in the house. Here are some fun pictures for you all to see!
This was the mausoleum created entirely by Libby Kollor and me (with the help of some high schooler minions to fill large areas ^_^). The little scull sculpture was all me, and was inspired by a church I visited in Germany. I know it's very hard to see in the blue light... but I'll survive!

I also made a room we called the "black and white" room. Black walls with stripes of white duct tape one inch apart going in all different directions (and costumes to match for a weird creepily moving room when the strobe came on in complete darkness)! -also created with the help of minions.
I actually got a lot of compliments when I was acting. I mean, I would hope that I can act better than most of the volunteer middle and high schoolers... but I can be happy I did a good job! If I had a video, I would show you... but I did do my own makeup every night!

Here is a picture of me with my mother who also volunteered so much from her life to this project (I learned so much from her! ::sniff sniff:: Such a wonderfully creepy- at least on Halloween- woman!). People were amazed at how well I took after her. This is Halloween night's show. I'm a creepy bride. My story was not that I was dead, but more so that I just went crazy and ate my husband during our wedding ceremony because he made me cry. Silly men. So I was sort of a bipolar, greedy, cannibal bride who hasn't noticed how messy she has become!

All in all, Haunted Manor was a great success! We actually GAINED money (which we were not expecting) so it will really help out this company to make a better community for the youth in the area. Everything was beautiful, everyone worked hard, everyone had fun. If you didn't get to see it, I feel sorry for you... but there's always next year! Just ask me for more information in the beginning of next fall and I will be happy to send you in the right direction!

Cards

So, I haven't updated for a while (sorry!) but I figured I would put one of my side projects up for you all. I like making cards, which work well with my style. I just designed a simple layout for two Halloween cards using the illustrations I made last year. And I also made a new card by hand for my friend Amanda's birthday! That one just shows the whole outside and the whole inside. No folds! So here they are, so you can get an idea of what I do.

P.S. The type is all by hand on the hand made pig one too!! ^_^

Costumes

As some of you may know, I love to sew. I'm always fixing something or creating something on the sewing machine. The last thing I made was a tote bag (only a few weeks ago) for one of my friends. For some silly reason I didn't take a picture of it, so once I get one from her I'll post it up here for you to see! Right now I'm working on making a skirt for me to be able to wear at work (PetSmart: the temporary solution).

But it got me thinking about Halloween and conventions  and all around costumes that I love to make. I was wondering if anyone had an idea or five of what I should dress up as next time. It has the potential of being worn at Reactor or one of multiple Halloween events. I'll make it and post it with you as the creative mind behind it all ^_^

I don't have pictures of all my outfits, and the ones that I do have aren't the best in the world... but here are some pictures of some of the costumes I've made recently!!

Also, if you or anyone you know is looking for someone to make a costume for them, I do take commissions!!

Final New York Youth Symphony Illustration

I'm so happy!!! I finally get to see my final product for this project!! I just sent in the final piece, along with a version on a nice paper background and New York Youth Symphony's logo that I created. I guess I'm early... although I've been up all night. It's currently after 4am right now, but I would have had all day today to send it in... Oh well! I'm actually very happy with this one. Oddly enough, I think my favorite part is the city in the back. I'm sure they will have me fix something... but I think it turned out wonderfully. Hope you all like it too!

Website

Alright, so I have a website through Da Portfolio which is a site that works with Deviant Art. I figured it was completely free, very easy, and definitely better than nothing!!! So you all can check it out. Hopefully it will make my life a little easier...

Mel Plamp

Here we have the character sketch for the main character of a new comic that I am illustrating called Mel Plamp, Unicorn Hunter. The author is J. Alex Boyd. Just a little excitement for the soon to be pages!! I'm sure it wont turn out to be the best of comics considering it's the first time either of us has done this, but it will definitely be fun and good practice!
